Young elephants that are trained for the circus are attached to a stake in the ground by a heavy chain. When they try to pull away they cannot, so one day they give up trying. After that they can be fastened to the stake with just a rope, because now they have been conditioned to give up. They don't think they can break free.

Ask yourself - what beliefs are chaining you?

We were all told a lie."

Two photoblogs someone should start:

* PREGNANT AND SMOKING - something you see too often among poorer people not only in Asia and Africa, but also in Europe and western countries.

Remember to boycott the giant multinational corporation NestlĂ© for a myriad of reasons. One of the big ones is that they're illegally stealing water from the drought-stricken California to sell it on bottles.

I'm listening to the unabridged audiobook of Eckhart Tolle's beautiful "The Power of Now", and almost everything he says really resonates with me.

I've never been much of a materialist, and it's inspiring to both read about Buddhism and now listen to 7.5 hours of Tolle. It makes want to get out of my mind and instead being ever more present in the moment. So I guess this means I really want to start meditating. :)

Here you can buy the audiobook from Amazon: http://goo.gl/pgIcol

One of my goals is to be able to talk to anyone at anytime. After living many years in different countries it's partly a concious effort, partly a deeply rooted habit, and today I effortlessly opened conversations with almost everyone I met - even more than I usually do, which is a lot already.

That resulted in a few phone numbers, some invitations and some really useful knowledge about things I knew nothing about this morning. And this was just ONE day in a life.

If I keep this up I can't imagine how many channels and opportunities I'll open up for myself - over time surely too many to deal with, but if so I'll just be less socially active and cut it down to what I need.

So should you feel lonely or disconnected from society, try the same approach. Open up smalltalk and casual conversations with EVERYONE you meet, and you'll find that you are soon connecting on a very real level with other people. Because if you want to find friends, you have to start somewhere, and usually that's with casual conversations. Try it today!
