Wafa Sultan explains why she has dedicated her life to fighting Islam

Wafa Sultan is a psychiatrist who grew up in Syria. She lived with Islam the first part of her life, before moving to USA in 1989.

If you are a non-Muslim, whatever you may think or feel about Islam means nothing compared to what Sultan can tell us. She actually LIVED with it for 40 years as a Muslim both in Syria and the USA, and has vast first-hand experiences about the oppressive and tragic consequences of the religion - especially for women.

She has dedicated her life to fighting Islam, and is very specific about how the west must stop using terms like "moderate", "political" and "radical" - to her there is only one type of Islam, the expansive and aggressive ideology we see spreading today.

Here's a very good and motivating speech she gave at the David Horowitz's Restoration Weekend in Florida, 2007. Please spend 10 minutes to watch this, it might completely change your outlook on Islam.

Here are some quotes from the speech:

"Because of the human tragedies I have witnessed, I have decided to fight Islam. Not political Islam, not militant Islam, not radical Islam, not Wahabi Islam - but Islam itself. I truly believe that the west has invented these terms for the sake of being politically correct. Growing up in Syria, I never heard anything else than Islam."

"Islam is not up to me, any Muslim man or woman. Islam is exactly what Mohammad did and said. In order to understand Islam, you have to read the biography of Mohammad. It is very traumatizing and shocking. He married his second wife when she was six years old, he was over 50. I was telling an audience in France this while debating with a Pakistani female minister, and she turned around and said, 'That is a big lie. She was nine, not six.'"

"I am sick and tired of people in the west asking me to soften my message. People ask me if I'm trying to change 1.3 billion people? Yes, I am trying. It's not a matter of trying - I will change them. I don't only believe in myself, but in millions of Muslim women, like Nonie Darwish and Ayaan Ali. We are working hand in hand to change 1.3 billion Muslim people. They have to understand that they have only two choices; to change or be crushed."

"Please don't let your civilized way of thinking interfere with defending your great country. Please, please defend your values. Defend your freedom, the heaven you are living in. Don't take anything for granted. I don't. I enjoy every single moment of my American life. Just chatting with my male neighbour without being accused of adultery is a blessing for me. My dream is to see Syria as free as America - not the other way around. I still cry for those women who I left behind. My dream of freeing those women should be the dream of all humanity."

"Islam has never been misunderstood. Islam is the problem. But no one is stating the truth. No one is taking a hard look at the root of terrorism - which is the brainwashing machine called Islam."

This is a comment from someone else who posted the same video on their blog:

"The least you can do would be to express your opinions with your comments. Don't forget that Muslims watch and take notice of your silence, and consider it a sign of their success in shutting up your voice, and your submission."

However you view it, it's always important to spread awareness about what you believe in, as much as possible, to everyone you know, in order to make people take action when it counts - like voting for the political parties that dare to do something about the development.

Because the old quote is more valid today than in a long time:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
